Aud Sentiments #88 Anything goes / The two most important

Thursday August 29, 2013

This weeks challenge is being sponsored by Prairie Fairy

challenge #88  runs from August 29 - Sept 10  is ANYTHING GOES.
Just remember to use a SENTIMENT
For my card, I did not use a Prairie Fairy image. I got my card done before the images were issued and I hate being late on making my card with weekends being so busy and all. I got some new stamps from PTI so decided to go for it.  I keep saying I am not a pastel person but dang I keep using those colors. What's up with that? I have to admit I do like the colors for this card. I saw Dawn McVey using two background stamps and putting them together to make a background so I did the same and love the look.  I hope I have inspired you to play along at Aud Sentiments and remember use a sentiment on the front of your card. Have fun.

Catch the bug New Release / Be happy

Tuesday August 27, 2013

Where has August gone? I can not believe fall is just around the corner.
I hope you all have had a great summer and done some fun things.

Catch the bug has a new release this is BEAR BEE HIVE. I'd sure hate to get stung by this bear-bee..LOL  speaking of bee's, hubby's truck is in the back pasture over a bee's nest the kind that make theirs in the ground. He went back there to get some branches to make some beauty bark and parked it but when he went to get in not only was the truck dead but the bee's are all over and he's allergic to bee's so not a good thing. He hopes to get someone to tow him out and hope the bee's have not taken up residence in the truck.
Any how I hope you head over to the Catch the bug store and see the new releases.

Unscripted Sketches #7 / Sending you a very happy little hello

Saturday August 24, 2013

Unscripted Sketches Flashback summer. Sketch #7
So have you been playing along with the Flashback summer bingo over at Unscripted Sketches?? I sure hope so, it's lots of fun and prizes.

This is my card for the challenges. I stuck with Papertrey Ink for this whole card.. well not the paper that's SU but the stamps, ink and die. One of my new favorite stamps is the Dahlia stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I love this new stamp but it's a little tricky to line up the layers for the flower. Let's just say this is the 4th flower I made and the other three will never been seen, EVER, NADA. I need to find the trick on lining those three stamps up. I tried to follow Dawn McVey and her sketch on how to line up but easier said than done. But I will be using this image more and more. Practice makes perfect.  I also made my own background by using some polka dot basic pti stamps and just stamping and over stamping. I like the look. I later thought the corners needed rounded. I like this look. I hope you play along and use the sketch above and enter your card over at Unscripted Sketches.

Catch the bug - Free Friday / with sympathy

Friday August 23, 2013

Welcome to Catch The Bug and FREE FRIDAY - FLOWER BLOCK LILY

I made this into a sympathy card but you could really make it into other cards. It just spoke sympathy to me. I lightly colored the flowers as I like of look of the white showing through. I did a glitter pen over the green dots and the orange but you really cant tell in the photo. The grid is die cut from the YNS tile letter die. When I took the letters out of the die it left this awesome grid which I love cause it broke up the image from the background with out hiding the awesome background paper.

Catch the bug / Humor me Wednesday/I'll rise but I refuse to shine

Wednesday August 21, 2013

Catch the bug Humor me Wednesday "Senior Citizen Day" August 21st.
This is my card at Catch the bug I used Morning Margaret
I guess I could of used Stella as she's an all time favorite but thought Margaret fit the sentiment I wanted to use. Me being a senior citizen.. oh my, yup I am.. I can relate to this some days. I still work full time out of the house so believe me, some morning are just that. But of course as I get up and moving and ready for work I am my ol jolly self.  You have to shine to get through the day.
I kind of mimicked the background paper for the background behind Margaret. I did not want to make it as busy as the background paper. I love the bright colors, how can she not shine with those bright colors.. ?

Catch the bug - Bingo / Thanks

Saturday August 17, 2013

We are back from our two week break at Catch the bug.. I got a lot of dies cataloged and put into CD jackets and put in my stand. I got a lot of my clear stamps put in pockets and labeled. Makes my life a lot easier. I got some cards made. I've been posting other cards so it's not been a total two weeks from bloggin... Only thing I did not get done and need to soon is go through my two boxes and one drawer of scraps. I hate to throw my dp's away but know that some of those pieces are just not usable...but maybe...it could be used here or there, it's just the right color..  you have those stashes too?

Well we are starting off with BINGO. Those are always fun challenges as there are quite a few options. I hope you play along and post to the Catch the bug site.

this is the card I made using the bingo middle row reading across
 - no designer paper- sewing - flower... I really had fun sewing and I thought I would use some old rayon thread I have and then I kind of tied a bunch together and tied off in the bottom corner for a cool look. I spritzed the green paper with some glitter spray and some Mr. Huey spritz but ended up covering most of it up. Oh well. that happens. I can always use Thanks cards so that is what I decided to do.. remember those containers with scraps I made up, well I also had made one of die cut letters and yup I went through it and found all the letters needed for THANKS.. pretty cool huh and the color I needed.

I have the honors of using this darling image by Kathryne called ARI & TOBY   I used a lot of bright colors for this image. I wanted a cheerful card and with it being a little girl I did not want drab sad colors. It's meant to be an uplifting card. Hence it's raining hearts vs. rain drops.

Paper Pretties #271 - Back to School Inspiration

Wednesday August 14, 2013

challenge for this week is
BACK TO SCHOOL INSPIRATION
I used Sweet 16 Lily for my back to school card and made her a book bag that's hanging off her shoulder. I thought this cute paper would fit the theme and laughed when I stamped "hey you" for her name.. her being a girl and having a good witty humor she'd put that, I also like the "whatever that's just behind the bag.   This card was a lot of fun to make and school is starting soon and she looks ready in her cool outfit and book bag

Paper Pretties #270 - Dream big

Wednesday August 7, 2013

Paper Pretties new challenge #270 and the theme this week is
USE AT LEAST TWO PATTERN PAPERS..  Now that is easy huh?

I decided to keep this card C&S.. I don't stamp right on the base of the card enough because I never know what to do with the background. So I usually stamp on a separate piece of paper and cut it out or die cut. It felt good doing it this way and masking it and spritzing the background.
I used four different pattern papers - instructions said to use at least two so why not four.. I am loving how this came out.
One of the challenges this is being entered in is coffee break/or food.. well this cat is thinking food so hope it qualifies for the challenge..
I used Hang in there stamp image (which is currently out of stock.. must be popular!

Three fun cards and my tryout for YNS DT ; )

Sunday August 4, 2013

Well I have been busy today making cards.  Your Next Stamp is having a DT call and I really, really, really want to be on this team. So I am submitting these three cards. They are all different in how they were done and to give a sample of my style and personality. (is that the same meaning for both?)

This first one is using the YNS clear rubber image Christmas Bauble. I colored this cute little image and cut it out and layered it on top of this awesome paper. I was trying to figure the bird color and came up with the color arrangement. I like the look as it gives contrast to the rest of the cards colors. I used stickles on the hat trim, glitter pen on the ornament - but you really cant see it too well, and embossed the sentiment. I put a piece of SU twine and bow for the ornament string. Papers are SU and MME and a scrap of QQ.

This second card is a digi CTB Stella / Mondays .. Oh yea I feel her pain and that could very well be me on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.. then I perk up and WOO HOO it's almost Friday.. I like using digi's as then you can size them so fit what ever your doing. I sometimes use the sentiment that comes with the image, as this one did. Or I use something else that fits what I need at the time.
I used Genius die, QQ scrap, SU scrap, liq. pearls petal pink, ribbon, embossing folder and copics.

This last card I made for my dear friends who I call my other daughter as she is the same age as my daughter and they grew up together. She is getting married the 17th and her wedding is based on hydrangea's (stamp rubber PSX)  I stamped it with stazon black on water color paper and using water color pencils colored it in. I then took liq. pearls and touched the center of the flowers. I used embossing powder for the PTI word "together" and PTI die for the "forever", I used a dark blue and green to give a shadow look. I used Swiss dot embossing folder on the very vanilla card base and a small piece of DCWV pattern paper behind the flower panel to give it a pop of color. Rounded the bottom corners with corner chomper.   (just realized I was so excited about posting my cards I chose this one that is not cropped.. oh well it still looks nice just not as close up as I would like it to be.. and don't know if there is a way to re-add if I deleted it.. didn't want to take the chance.)

All three cards are entered in the following challenges:
2 Sisters #155 - anything goes
One Stop Craft #237 - keep it simple
613 Avenue #31 - anything goes/with a sentiment
